Outpatient Treatment

Treatment Services

Persons entering treatment at the outpatient level are individuals deemed to need a less restrictive environment during the screening and intake processes. In our outpatient programs, treatment involvement may vary from basic education classes to an intensive level. The level of treatment is determined by an assessment performed by one of our Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors.

General information about the disease of alcoholism/drug addiction is taught and the 12 step model is utilized. Living problems are identified and the application of positive solutions is discussed. We also include regular sessions on the prevention of HIV/AIDS. HIV testing is provided on site by South Arkansas Fights AIDS. Clients also receive education on STD and TB. The educational curriculum closely follows the residential program with the added emphasis and discussion on actual problems client’s encounter in their living situations.

The screening, assessment and intake processes as well as the medical treatment, psychological therapy, occupational/vocational training, job counseling, education and social and domestic rehabilitation are the same for outpatient clients as in residential program except for transportation to outside appointments.

South Arkansas Substance Abuse uses the TCU Mapping Enhanced Counseling, "Matrix", and the Evidence Based Motivational Interviewing (all evidence based programs) for all of its residential and outpatient treatment services. Our counselors have been trained in all practices.
